Development Of Offshore Structures
The ports and harbors serve as the buffer between the transportation modes of land and water. A port has to be a sheltered, safe and secure location for sea navigation in a dynamic environment. Therefore, structures such as breakwaters, quays, jetties have to be implemented in the development process. The ports must be planned considering its operational mode whether it is commercial, fishing, cruise, bulk or containerized. The constructions of harbor and sea works create some of most unusual problems and challenges in Civil Engineering. In Sri Lanka as an island the fishing industry is operating all along the coastal belt of the country. CECB has served contributing its experience and knowledge in several fishery harbor developments as a Consulting Engineer.
